Day 1
"Love is Patient"

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
(Ephesians 4:2)

Do you consider yourself to be a patient person? With your wife and children, do you always maintain a calm demeanor, think positively, and take a deep breath instead of lashing out with unkind words? I thought not. We all struggle with patience, and the stresses can be cumulative so that the "last straw" can be something minor put in combination with a list of other pressures. Recognizing this can be helpful in learning to control our tempers. Few of us do patience very well, and none of us do it naturally. But wise men will pursue it as an essential ingredient to their marriage relationships. That's a good starting point to demonstrate true love."

In addition to this first day: In email, phone, or letter - do not say or write anything critical or negative. Even if you are on the receiving end of a verbal attack, choose to be positive or quiet. Easier said than done? You bet - and that's the challenge of it. But if for one day you can choose to demonstrate patience in your communications I believe that God will reward that act of obedience.

A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. (Proverbs 14:29)

A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel. (Proverbs 15:18)

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (Colossians 3:12-14)

"For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep."
(Acts 13:36)

From the example of David's life, we discover that God specializes in taking ordinary people from not-so-impressive surroundings and doing extraordinary things through their lives. All it requires is a heart that is willing to yield our own dreams and agendas to God's perfect plan for us. When we submit our plans and aspirations to our heavenly Father, we will always be delightfully surprised to discover that His dreams for us are always greater and more significant than ours. Going on the journey to reach our destiny begins when we realize that God has created within each of us the potential for greatness. As we walk with Him, our lives surrendered to His purposes, that potential becomes molded into the kind of character and ability that God uses to make an impact!

Prayer: Father, I believe that You have created me with greatness and significance in mind. Help me today to recognize areas of my life that I have been limited by my own unbelief. I submit my life to You, every part. Make it what You want it to be. I pray for my family that You would lead us in Your plan for us. Help us to be a people that joyfully embrace the journey you have for us.. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Read This Scripture Today: Judges 18:5-10 ... Spend some time asking the Lord for guidance and direction in the spiritual journey you will be taking for the next forty days. Ask for His will, His blessing, and His discernment.

God Bless - and may He keep you and your family safely under His wings. -
